Freaky Food Friday

While in Chicago last week, we made Friday a freaky food day.  We made a pact to try something new at every restaurant we ate at.  First came alligator, then came friend pickles.

Lisa and Dustin firmly believed that we had struck out in our food adventures, but Phil and I were not sure we agreed.  The alligator was a little tough, but tasty.  And pickles....well, in my opinion, you can never go wrong with pickles!  :)

We returned home Sunday evening to a surprise visit from my Dad and Deb.  Thanks so much for the Valentines surprise, both of you!

Dustins Valentines gift was bought at Bass Pro shops:  rain gear for the upcoming fishing tournaments.  I rolled my eyes but he loves it and that's all that matters!

I hope you all had a wonderful Valentines Day with your loved ones!  I spent mine with Dustin, Lisa, and Annette:  a great evening!

Blizzard 2010

As many of you know, I am a LOVER of snow.  I was disappointed, however, to learn this winter that the term "Blizzard" is actually defined by wind gusts, not snow accumulation.  Bummer for me.  The weather man kept calling for a blizzard, and I was super excited.  We didn't get as much snow as I had hoped, but I'll let you decide for yourselves if we got enough to last a while:
Keep in mind this is a 5 foot deep pool....and there is a fire pit out there somewhere under all the white too.

"What do you do with all that snow?" one might ask.  Well, go snowmobiling, of course!  :)  Thanks, JD, for sharing your fun with us!

Windy City Weekend

Dustin and I spent Valentines Day weekend in Chicago with some friends of ours, Phil and Lisa.  We had such a great time laughing and also hitting the tri-fecta of sporting goods stores:  Bass Pro Shops, Cabellas, and Gander Mountain.

The men are both bath fisherman and enjoyed the local fish (bass!) at the Shedd Aquarium while Lisa and I marveled at all the other beautiful creatures on display!  We also got to see the dolphin/beluga whale show and a 4-D movie about the Earth.

We also had the opportunity to meet up with Dustins brother Dave, and his wife Paige and children Reagan and Taylor, for lunch at Ed Debevics and all had a great time.  Our waiters name was Popcorn and appeared to be the best one there.  He definatly had the dance moves down!

Over all, a fabulous weekend away!  Thanks, Phil and Lisa, for the huge laughs!  We are already looking forward to our next trip.
